We understand that you may have questions about our centres and how we can help your child. This is why we have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions to provide you with the answers you need. Below, you'll find information on what we do and our session and our fee structure.

If you have any additional questions that are not covered here, please feel free to reach out to us for further assistance.

  • What makes The Ranges Learning Centre unique?

At The Ranges LC, we provide a highly specialised service for diverse learners. We focus on supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyslcalculia, ASD, ADHD and a range of developmental and educational delays. That said, we also support any child and any learner wishing to get a bit of one-on-one support. All our staff are qualified teachers or speech pathologists that specialise in explicit and direct instruction in literacy and/or numeracy.

As well as this, we also do Kinder school readiness lessons. We believe that all children deserve the best start. Our Kinder lessons ensure that your little one has a solid foundation of early literacy and numeracy schools before they start school.

  • When do lessons run and how long is a session?

Lessons run Monday – Friday from 8am to 6pm. We follow the term dates and break over the holidays.

    Sessions run for 50 minutes.

Kinder sessions run for 70 minutes.

  • How much do sessions cost?

A private session costs $121 including GST.

Group of 2 costs $88 including GST.

Group of 3 or 4 costs $66 including GST.

Kinder sessions are $55 including GST.

  • How do I pay for sessions?

You can either pay for the full term upfront (within the first two weeks of term), or you can opt to pay weekly via direct debit only.

Please speak with Giulia if your child has access to NDIS funding.

  • Do I have to sit in on the lessons?

No, you can sit in our waiting area or drop off and collect.

You are always welcome to sit in on the lesson should you choose to, however we do encourage students to attend lessons on their own.

  • Do you do online lessons?

No, all lessons are in person in our Olinda and Beaconsfield Upper spaces. We do occasionally do online lessons if our students are too unwell to attend in person, but well enough to do a lesson online instead.

  • Do you provide help with homework?

At The Ranges Learning Centre, we provide specialised intervention in literacy and numeracy. We therefore do not help with homework provided by schools, as our priority is working at a student’s point of need, addressing their specific learning needs and filling in gaps in their knowledge.

  • Do you provide homework?

In our MSL lessons you can expect to be given readers to take home, plus occasionally some extra practice (such a fluency passages or dictations) to keep the learning happening in between sessions. For maths, you may occasionally be given work to do at home. For the most part, you should not expect work to do at home, however it is worth noting that keeping the learning going at home does mean that your child will make quicker progress!

  • Do you provide progress reports?

Yes, at the end of each term you can expect a brief outline of your child’s ongoing progress against our centre’s rubrics. At the end of the year, this report will be more in depth including an opportunity for your child to reflect on their own progress.

  • Can you provide a letter of support, recommendations and/or modifications?

The Ranges Learning Centre is happy to provide letters of support, supplemental reports and/or classroom accommodations lists for an additional $100 (including GST).

  • What if we need to cancel a lesson?

While we understand that our families have outside commitments or illnesses that may prevent them from coming to their sessions, we simply cannot fill these spots in the last minute.

If more than 24 hours notice is given, then a make-up lesson is provided. Only 2 make up lessons are allowed each term. Any cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are considered forfeited lessons. If lessons are cancelled by us, then these lessons will be credited or refunded.
