Early Intervention

Sessions for Kinder students

Children as young as 4 years of age can be flagged as potentially having dyslexia or dysgraphia. Our Early Intervention program is designed to give these students the solid foundation that they will need before beginning Prep.

Early Years

Prep - Year 2 Sessions

Our early years session caters for children from Prep to Year 2. These lessons include letter-sound drills, handwriting, direct instruction in letter sounds, decoding and encoding practice, dictation, fluency and games.

Middle and Upper Years

Year 3 to Year 6 Sessions

Our middle and upper primary years sessions cater for children from Year 3 to Year 6. Students are grouped according to learning needs rather than age. These lessons include letter-sound drills, handwriting, direct instruction in more advanced letter sounds, decoding and encoding practice, dictation, comprehension, fluency and writing skills including sentence composition.

High School

Sessions based on learning needs

Students in high school are grouped according to learning needs rather than age. Sessions follow the following possible formats. However, these are fluid and may vary based on the specific needs of the students:

• Letter-sound drills, handwriting, direct instruction in more advanced letter sounds, decoding and encoding practice, dictation, comprehension, fluency and writing skills, including sentence composition.
• Students will learn about the morphology and etymology of words whilst also covering phonology.
• Writing composition including a focus on grammar and syntax. Students will learn how to write sentences and paragraphs with various audiences in mind. They will also learn how to take notes.

Creative Writing Sessions

These sessions will be available for those who are passionate about writing and wish to develop their writing skills further. Suitable for students who are home schooled.

Multisensory Maths

These sessions will be for students experiencing dyscalculia. Students will be grouped based on ability rather than age. All sessions will be hands on, with students exposed to a wide range of materials in order to build a concrete understanding of concepts before moving to abstract understanding.
