Our Sessions

To support as many students as possible and to keep our lessons affordable, most classes have 2-4 students. One-on-one sessions are available upon request. We also highly encourage students to attend multiple times a week as this will have the greatest impact on learning.

MSL

MSL

(Reading & Spelling Instruction)

Taken from the IMSLE website: MSL stands for Multisensory Structured Language. SL stands for Structured Literacy. MSL and Structured Literacy are based on the same principles of instruction required for effective reading instruction. MSL/SL includes the 6 essential components of reading/literacy outlined in the National Reading Panel research document as well as in the body of research known as the Science of Reading (Reading League, 2020).

Effective instruction for students with dyslexia is what all students require. That is instruction that is direct & explicit, structured & systematic, cumulative, cognitive, intensive, emotionally sound and focused on meaningfully taking speech to print. The multisensory component involves the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic-tactile pathways simultaneously to enhance memory and learning of written language.

Writing

Writing

Our writing lessons are designed to support students who have trouble putting pen to paper. Typically students that attend writing lessons don’t need support with reading, however they may need further support with comprehension and how to successfully research, summarise, gather the main idea and respond to texts.

We use The Writing Revolution as the core of our instruction. Sessions will support your child to deeply understand how to write at a sentence level and gradually move on to writing paragraphs and essays. Lessons follow student interests and will allow your child to research and learn about topics of their own choosing.

Suitable for middle primary up to high school.
We offer private sessions and small groups.

Maths

Maths

Our maths lessons centre around Math U See, a hands on approach to learning maths. Math U See is a multisensory program that engages the auditory, visual, kinaesthetic and tactile pathways. Students will grasp mathematical concepts using the Math U See manipulatives with the aim to develop a conceptual understanding of mathematical concepts, rather than rote learning. Lessons are tailored specifically for each student and will teach them at their individual point of need.

You can read more about Math U See and the research that supports it here: Maths Australia
